Information about EdCert at IU

Note: The following information is intended for registered local support providers (LSPs) at Indiana University. If you are an LSP and have questions regarding the information in this document, contact LSP Services at lsps@iu.edu; otherwise, contact your campus Support Center.

EdCert, or Education Certification, is a UITS initiative aimed at elevating the level of expertise in departmental computing support and building a solid technical infrastructure at Indiana University. The EdCert Program offers advanced technical training to local support providers (LSPs), those staff members who provide IT support in departments, schools, and administrative units on all IU campuses. Topics include Microsoft Windows, Unix system administration, and Windows and Unix Security, among others.

Microsoft and Apple EdCert classes are designed for computing support providers registered with UITS as LSPs. The Windows classes use Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) and are taught by Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs). Macintosh classes follow the Apple certified training series.

Most EdCert classes require a pre-test or prerequisite course. In general, EdCert classes are free to registered LSPs, although in some cases there is a charge for course materials. Where space permits, people other than IU LSPs may register for a fee.

For more, see the LSP Services EdCert site (authentication required).
