The Electronic Research Administration system (ERA)
The Electronic Research Administration (ERA) system provides a way to electronically conduct research administration processes and transactions at Indiana University. The ERA is available to faculty and staff on theAdministrative Systems tab in
OneStart.
Features of the ERA system include:
- Elimination of paper
- Automation of research administration business processes
- Single data entry point
- Automation of rules and regulations
- Storage of electronic data
- Electronic exchange of data
- Reporting and analysis
ERA works internally (i.e., within the university system), transmitting documents using electronic forms and attachments, to simplify:
- Workflow routing and approval
- Submission of proposals to the research office
- Budget development
- Reporting/analysis/compliance monitoring
- Event management
- Faculty profiles
ERA works externally, providing communication links between IU and various agencies, to simplify:
- Funding searches
- Program identification
- Proposal submission
- Award notification
- Fund collection
- Reporting
