Getting an Ethernet cable for use in IUB offices, campus housing, Greek houses, and other IU-affiliated buildings

Standard cables

Purchase a standard Cat 5 or Cat 6 Ethernet straight-through patch cord at any electronics store.

IU-specific cables

If you work in an IU-affiliated building or live in an IUB Greek house requiring an IU-specific proprietary cable, you can buy one at the Computer Connection in the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU). The cables are available in lengths from 6 to 20 feet, in both IU proprietary and standard (straight-through) configurations.

Note: IU-specific cables are already installed in campus housing where needed; residents do not need to purchase them.

Cable purchases for IU offices

Gray straight-through cables and gray IU Wall cables are available from the vendor, Anixter, in lengths between 4 and 15 feet. Order Ethernet cables directly from the vendor, using the KFS (Kuali Financial System).
