In Windows, how do I find the MAC address of my network adapter?

Windows 8.x

  1. From the Start Screen menu, type cmd and press Enter.

  2. At the command prompt that appears, enter: getmac

    The MAC address for all installed network adapters will be displayed in hexadecimal format.

Windows 7 and Vista

  1. From the Start menu search field, type cmd and press Enter.

  2. At the command prompt that appears, enter: getmac

    The MAC address for all installed network adapters will be displayed in hexadecimal format.

Note: MAC addresses contain only the letters A-F in combination with numbers. Any other character aside from A-F is a number.
