  • Customer-purchased equipment

Departments on the Indiana University Bloomington campus may purchase their own single-line telephones and auxiliary equipment from any source meeting industry standards. You must lease Meridian business sets and auxiliary equipment from UITS Enterprise Telecom Consulting. If you choose to purchase your own equipment, Telecom Consulting will maintain the telephone line up to and including the voice/data jack. If the on-site repair technician determines that customer-owned equipment is the cause of a reported repair problem, you may be billed a service charge of $50 (minimum one hour billing). If you choose to buy your telephone, it must meet industry standards and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act for compatibility with hearing aids; see the Federal Communications Commission's FAQ regarding Hearing Aid Compatibility and Volume Control (HAC/VC). UITS Enterprise Telecom Consulting recommends that you purchase quality telephones that have a flash button and a message waiting lamp for use with voice mail. If you decide to purchase your own equipment, email Telecom Consulting to remove UITS-provided equipment from your account. If you have additional questions, call Enterprise Telecom Consulting at 812-856-2287.

Note: UITS will continue to maintain all single-line instruments currently installed. The basic bundle of services includes telephone repair and replacement of faulty equipment due to normal wear and tear.
