Problems with office voice mail

At IUB, two specific problems may occur with office voice mail:

  • Voice mail may not pick up, and your phone may continue to ring.
  • If you are on the phone, callers may receive a busy signal instead of your voice mail greeting.

To diagnose the problem, contact your telecommunications coordinator to find out if programmable features were requested for your telephone.

  • If your telephone service has programmable features:

    • If your phone is not answered in three rings, pick up the handset and dial *9969800. This should clear the problem.
    • If callers hear a busy signal rather than your voice mail greeting, pick up the handset and dial *9869800. This should clear the problem.

  • If programmable features were not requested for your telephone, ask your telecommunications coordinator to contact UITS Support Center Telephone Services at 812-856-2287.
