Answer mode (IUB two-line telephones)

When you select the answer mode on your two-line Caller ID telephone (Meridian/Nortel 9316 and 9417), you are choosing which line to answer when both lines are ringing and you lift the handset or press the Handsfree/Mute key. To select the answer mode:

  1. Press the Set Options key, and then press # to enter the setup list.

  2. Press the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 4, or just press 4 to change the answer mode.

  3. Press # to choose the prime line, or press * to answer the longest ringing line. Press RLS.

Note: When you lift the handset or press the Handsfree/Mute key, the two-line telephone set automatically selects the prime line. If your prime line is 2 and there's a peripheral device on line 2, the line is not selected and the display message "extension in use" appears on the display. If you press line 1, you access line 1 and can make or answer a call. If you press line 2, you will access line 2 and may interrupt a call in progress to the peripheral.
