Dialing restrictions
Dialing restrictions can prevent certain numbers from being dialed out on your Indiana University Caller ID phone. You can program up to three restriction codes of up to seven digits. If someone attempts to dial a number that begins with one of those codes, a "restricted number" message will appear on the display. For example, the codes below would restrict any number beginning with 0, 1, or 411:
1st code 0 2nd code 1 3rd code 411In the example above, you could not dial the number 411, but you could dial 555-0411.
Warning: Take care when restricting 9 or 0. If you enter 9, 91, 911, or 0 as one of the dialing restrictions, you will not be able to dial the emergency number 911, or the campus operator.
Entering dialing restrictions from a two-line telephone
- Press the Set Options key.
- Press # to enter the setup list.
- Use the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 2, or press 2 to
go directly to the item.
- Enter the digits you want to restrict and press Save. Repeat this step for each dialing restriction you want to enter, and then press RLS.
Deleting or editing dialing restrictions
- Press the Set Options key.
- Press # to enter the setup list.
- Use the arrow up/down key to scroll to number 2, or press 2 to go
directly to the item.
- Press the left arrow key to delete the restricted digits. Once you have
deleted the number, you can use the dial pad to enter a new or modified
number, and then press Save. Repeat this step for each dialing restriction you
want to delete or edit.
- When you are finished, press RLS.
