Network services

Campus housing networking services

High-speed access to the IU network via Ethernet is available to those living in the residence halls and on-campus apartments at Indiana University.

Modem pools

The central dial-in facilities at IUB and IUPUI consist of modem pools, a shared, first-come, first-served resource operated by UITS for students, faculty, and staff.

Virtual private network (VPN)

The virtual private network (VPN) service at IU allows you to authenticate and act as part of the IU network when you're connected to an off-campus network, for example, when you're using a non-IU Internet service provider (ISP). It also provides authentication and encryption if you're using a home wireless network.

Wireless network

Indiana University provides a campus-wide wireless infrastructure on all campuses. Wireless access is widely available in areas accessible to students, faculty, and staff, complementing the wired infrastructure.
