What is LDAP?
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a set of protocols used for accessing online directory services. By using TCP/IP, LDAP allows clients on multiple platforms (i.e., Windows, Macintosh, Unix) to access centralized directory services.
At Indiana University, UITS currently does not provide an official LDAP service. However, a Microsoft LDAP implementation is in service to support IU's Exchange email systems via the Outlook email client. To access this directory with other email clients, see IU's Global Address List
