When requesting Oncourse assistance, what information should I provide?

When you request Oncourse assistance, provide as much information as you can, including:

  • The steps you took before encountering the problem

  • The name of the tool you were using

  • The name of the Oncourse server to which you're connected. The server name appears on the bottom of the screen as "esappo" followed by two numbers (e.g., "esappo02").

  • The site ID, which is the long string of letters and numbers that appears after site in the site's URL, for example: https://oncourse.iu.edu/portal/site/c9de376e-8c3f-42c7-8006-830u8127fbbq
  • Your operating system, including any service packs. You do not need to provide this information if you are in a Student Technology Center (STC) or Residential Technology Center (RTC).

  • The name and version of the browser you're using

  • Your networking environment (e.g., STC or RTC, Ethernet connection, modem connection, or off-campus via VPN)

This information helps the Oncourse team quickly find a solution to your problem, as well as identify problems that may affect others.
