When requesting Oncourse assistance, what information should I provide?
When you request Oncourse assistance, provide as much information as you can, including:
- The steps you took before encountering the problem
- The name of the tool you were using
- The name of the Oncourse server to which you're connected. The
server name appears on the bottom of the screen as "esappo" followed
by two numbers (e.g., "esappo02").
- The site ID, which is the long string of letters and numbers
that appears after
sitein the site's URL, for example: https://oncourse.iu.edu/portal/site/c9de376e-8c3f-42c7-8006-830u8127fbbq - Your operating system, including any service packs.
You do not need to provide this information if you are in a
Student Technology Center (STC) or Residential
Technology Center (RTC).
- The name and version of the browser you're
using
- Your networking environment (e.g., STC or RTC, Ethernet connection, modem connection, or off-campus via VPN)
This information helps the Oncourse team quickly find a solution to your problem, as well as identify problems that may affect others.
