Project: MySQL Enterprise Database services

Description: MySQL Enterprise Database services will be made available on the High Performance Systems (HPS) Research Database Cluster (RDC) in fall 2008.
Milestones and status:
- February 1, 2008: MySQL installed on Libra45/46 and NVGL migration completed
- May 9, 2008: Finalize purchase of MySQL Enterprise
- June 16, 2008: Complete installation of MySQL client on Libra51 test environment
- June 23, 2008: Complete installation of MySQL client on Libra01/02
- July 31, 2008: Knowledge Base and RDC web page updates complete
- October 6, 2008: Update RDC account request form
- October 6, 2008: Complete installation of Enterprise MySQL server on Libra45/46
- October 6, 2008: Complete installation of phpMyAdmin on discern.uits.iu.edu
- October 13, 2008: Request update to itaccounts Libra/RDC account information; include MySQL in text description
- October 15, 2008: Complete testing of "mysql_instance" user command script (allows users to stop, restart, restart, check status of their MySQL database)
- October 27, 2008: Begin customer notification (e.g., MOTD, Monitor, CI Newsletter, Research Technologies round table presentation)
- November 3, 2008: MySQL available on Libra/RDC
- November 14, 2008: Knowledge Base and RDC web page updates completed, completing the project
Benefits: A popular database service will be made available to research database customers.
