Connecting to IU Secure in Mac OS X 10.5 or later
Note: Beginning January 1, 2010, UITS will require MAC address registration to connect to the IU Secure network. This applies to new devices only; any device that has connected to IU Secure during fall semester 2009 will be grandfathered into the DHCP database and will not need to register. For more information on MAC address registration, see Registering your computer on the IU network
To connect to the IU Secure wireless network, you can either use the IU Secure Assistant from IUware, or follow the instructions below to manually configure your computer.
Note: Use these instructions to configure Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later to connect to the IU Secure SSID with AirPort. For Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), see Connecting to IU Secure in Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
- From the AirPort menu, select
IU Secure.
- When prompted, enter your IU Network ID.
- When prompted to verify the certificate, click
Show Certificateand verify that:
- The certificate is signed by Thawte Premium Server CA.
- The certificate name is
net-auth-1.noc.iu.edu.
- Check
Always trust "net-auth-1.noc.iu.edu"and clickContinue.Note: Due to a bug in Leopard, you may be prompted to verify the certificate more than once. You should not have to verify the certificate more than twice.
- You should now be connected to the IU Secure SSID; if you are
prompted for your credentials again, enter your IU Network
ID.
- From the AirPort menu, select
Open Network Preferences....
- Click
Advanced..., and click the802.1Xtab in the resulting window.
- In the left column,
User Profiles, clickWPA: IU Secure.
- In the list next to "Authentication:", only
PEAPshould be checked. Uncheck all other boxes.
