iPhone 2 software
iPhone 2 software adds support for Indiana University's IU Secure wireless network and Exchange ActiveSync to the iPhone and iPod touch. The update also adds VPN support for the iPod touch. iPhone 1.x cannot access these services, and is not supported by UITS. UITS strongly recommends all users upgrade to the latest software available from Apple.
iPhone 2.x updates are free for the original iPhone and the iPhone
3G. To upgrade, connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC, and then click
Check for Update in iTunes.
The original iPod touch can be upgraded to 2.0 software for $9.99; other updates may be free. Newer generations of the iPod touch include the current software. To upgrade from previous versions, see Apple's iPod touch web site.
Note: Exchange ActiveSync requires an AT&T Enterprise Data plan that differs from the standard iPhone data plan. Indiana University students, faculty, and staff are eligible for discounts on the iPhone service plan through AT&T; see the AT&T Wireless agreement.
