Picking up a call from a different location

At Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI, faculty and staff have several options for picking up a call from a different location:

  • Call Park: Allows you to park a call against the number on which you received it and retrieve the call from any other location
  • Directed Call Park: Allows you to park an incoming call against any campus number and retrieve it from another campus telephone.

If you subscribe to these features, you can activate them by dialing a code; see Feature packages available for IUB faculty and staff or Feature packages available for IUPUI faculty and staff If you have a Meridian business set (Model M5312 or M5316), you can also activate these features using a button.

Call Park

Using a code

To park a call:

  1. Ask the caller to hold, and then press Transfer.
  2. Listen for the special dial tone.
  3. Dial *82.
  4. Listen for the confirmation tones.
  5. Press RLS or hang up the handset.

To retrieve a parked call from any campus telephone:

  1. Lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Dial #82 at IUB or *83 at IUPUI.
  3. Listen for the special dial tone.
  4. Dial the five-digit campus number where the call was parked and begin speaking.

Using a button (Meridian business set)

To park a call:

  1. Ask the caller to hold, and then press the Call Park key.
  2. Listen for the confirmation tones.
  3. Press RLS or hang up the handset.

To retrieve a parked call from a set with a Call Park button:

  1. Lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Press Call Park.
  3. Listen for the special dial tone.
  4. Dial the five-digit campus number where the call was parked and begin speaking.

Directed Call Park

Using a code

To park a call:

  4. Dial the five-digit number where you want to park the call.
  5. Listen for the confirmation tones.
  6. Press RLS or hang up the handset.

To retrieve Directed Call Park from any campus telephone:

  1. Lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Dial #82.
  3. Listen for the special dial tone.
  4. Dial the five-digit campus number where the call was parked and begin speaking.

Using a button (Meridian business set)

To park a call:

  1. Ask the caller to hold, and then press the Directed Call Park button.
  2. Listen for the special dial tone.
  3. Dial the five-digit campus number where you want to park the call.
  4. Listen for the confirmation tones.
  5. Press RLS or hang up the handset.

To retrieve Directed Call Park from a set with a Directed Call Park button:

  1. Lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Press the Directed Call Park button.
  3. Listen for the special dial tone.
