Answering someone else's calls

The Call Pickup feature allows you to answer another ringing telephone within your group from your telephone set. Only members in the same Call Pickup group can answer for others in the group. Directed Call Pickup allows you to answer a ringing telephone that is not in your Call Pickup group, or a specific ringing number within your group when multiple lines are ringing.

If you subscribe to these features, you can activate them by dialing a code. If you have a Meridian business set (Model M5312 or M5316) with add-on modules, you can also activate Call Pickup with a button.

Call Pickup

To use a code:

  1. When a telephone in your call group is ringing, lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Dial *73 and begin speaking.
To use a button (Meridian business set only):
  1. When a telephone in your call group is ringing, lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Press the Call Pickup button and begin speaking.

Directed Call Pickup

To answer a ringing line with Directed Call Pickup:

  1. When a telephone line you want to answer is ringing, lift the handset or press Handsfree.
  2. Dial *74 and listen for the special dial tone.
  3. Dial the five-digit number of the ringing telephone you wish to answer, and begin speaking.
