ARCHIVED: Project: Information handling standards

Primary UITS contact: Merri Beth Lavagnino

Last update: February 5, 2010

Description: While information security standards outline how to secure information and technology, information handling standards outline how to apply generally accepted privacy principles to the handling of information.

The Information Handling Standards are part of the Indiana University Information Security and Privacy Program.

Outcome: The result of this project will be a set of documents that guide employees in the proper handling of information at IU. This set of documents will combine generally accepted privacy principles, information handling best practices, and the privacy and data protection requirements of laws and regulations that apply to IU, and collate it into a format useful for employees.
