Project: Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE)
Primary UITS contact: Robert H. McDonald (IU Libraries)
Last update: April 16, 2012
Description: This community source project was launched on July 1, 2010, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation ($2.38 million). The project is under the joint sponsorship of UITS Enterprise Software and the IU Libraries, and will be a Kuali development effort to deliver a services-oriented, architecture-based library management system. Along with the IU Libraries, UITS assists in the development of technical requirements and system specifications. UITS will also assist with quality assurance, testing, and validation of prototypes and releases, and, in the future, will work toward implementing the Kuali OLE system at IU. The Kuali OLE project has equal parts in matching contributions from its partner libraries and will be developing the application software through a multi-year software development contract that will be managed through the Core Technical Team and the project manager.
