Editorial style guide

Follow a style that is consistent and appropriate for materials written for and about information technology at IU.

The ITCO style follows conventions outlined in The Chicago Manual of Style, as well as exceptions specific to the IU style guide and industry standards. This guide covers items that diverge from Chicago or IU style, reverse earlier ITCO style preferences, or crop up frequently enough to bear mention.

Please note

  • The editorial style guide is a living document subject to ongoing improvement. It undergoes a full internal review and update each June.
  • ITCO writers and editors may disregard certain guidelines that impact the design of print pieces and websites.
