"The Veldt", also known as "The World that the Children Made" was a short story written by Ray Bradbury. In the story, a family has a house that does literally everything for them, from cooking to cleaning and even tying shoes by the means of many individual machines built into the home. One extension of the house was known as "the nursery" where the husband and wife's two 10 year old children would play. This room could create anything that the children imagined in it, one of the things it created was an African glade, or Veldt. The father would lock the nursery so the kids couldn't play in it as a form of punishment, which the kids hated. When they were allowed in the room (which was most of the time because the mom would bend to the children's tantrums) the kids began to think up the Veldt and imagine their parents being eaten by lions. The children had grown to love the room more than their parents. The father one day in a rage against the families dependency on technology was going to shut off the nursery for good. The children in anger tricked the parents into going into the room and locked the door behind them, where they made the lions kill the parents for real so they could play in the room forever.
