Current pilots

Join us as we continue to find out what’s next at IU in teaching and learning. Here are the pilots we are currently engaged in.
  • The new version of Top Hat provides a tighter integration with Canvas and new features, including Roster sync, automatic or manual Grade sync, and deep linking to specific Top Hat pages, discussions, and assignments.

  • Gradescope is an assignment and exam submission, grading, and analytics platform that integrates with Canvas to facilitate the grading of bubble sheets, hand-written assignments, and coding assignments.

  • YuJa is a video creation and media management system that integrates with Canvas. It provides in-video quizzing and engagement tools as well as advanced editing capabilities.

  • The Course Setup Wizard helps faculty with common processes involved in building a new course – like importing content from other courses, applying a template, or adding the IU Home Page. The pilot exist in the Canvas test environment.

  • Panopto is a video creation and media management system that integrates with Canvas. It provides in-video quizzing and engagement tools as well as advanced editing capabilities.

  • Terracotta supports rigorous and responsible experimental research on teaching and learning. Set up different variations of the same Canvas assignment, and compare student learning outcomes.

  • Student-facing dashboard tool that displays files accessed, assignment activity, and grade distribution to help students regulate their learning.
