Stay connected

As students evolve, so does the way we engage, educate, and inspire them. Through partnerships with faculty, Learning Technologies determines what systems and tools serve IU’s education needs in all learning environments.

Our process

  • Identification

Determine open-source and vendor-provided products for piloting.
  • Exploration

Engage faculty about pilot participation; work with them to conduct pilots and assess outcomes.
  • Evaluation

Determine software options based on faculty and student feedback.
  • Adoption

Make selections based on evaluation reports and input from learning technology strategy teams.

Current pilots

  • Exam-scoring platform that integrates with Canvas, allowing instructors to upload student exam forms to any printer or scanner on the IU network.
  • Learn more about using Teams in classes and provide feedback to Microsoft and Instructure for a future integration of Canvas and Teams.
  • Student-facing dashboard tool that displays files accessed, assignment activity, and grade distribution to help students regulate their learning.
  • Micro-credentialing tools that streamline and facilitate non-credit-based offerings.
  • Customized virtual desktop for online students to use performance data applications, using high-speed data servers within IU’s state-of-the-art data center.
