We believe space design incorporates a symbiotic ecosystem of space, technology, and pedagogy.
Building the classrooms of tomorrow
Our design process
We begin with a question: What does the experience for the student, instructor, or other user of the space look like?
Learning space design requires a purposeful and intentional process that ensures that the spaces created contributes to an engaging and collaborative student learning experience.
Audio visual standards
The Audio Visual Systems Standards and Guidelines detail product quality and installation methods that aren’t practical to include sufficiently in notes on construction drawings. These guidelines are used as the standards to which facilities will be designed or updated. Where these standards cannot be met, you must consult with the UITS Learning Space Design Team during the design stage and prior to construction work starting.
The guidelines detail the physical, programming, and security requirements for audio visual equipment to be used in:
- Classrooms
- Meeting rooms
- Informal learning spaces
- Computer labs
- Auditoriums
The UITS Learning Space Design group endorses the INFOCOMM, AV/IT Infrastructure Guidelines for Higher Education as a companion document subject to the specifics of the UITS Learning Space Design audio visual specifications.
