Mosaic Active Learning Initiative—Regionals Luncheon

Mosaic is Indiana University's active learning initiative. Join other colleagues on April 7 to help launch Mosaic on the regional campuses.

Associate Vice President for Learning Technologies Anastasia (Stacy) Morrone will talk about the Mosaic Initiative.

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the Kokomo campus, Mark Canada, will introduce the Mosaic Faculty Fellows from the regional campuses.

The luncheon will also feature Anna Bostwick Flaming from the University of Iowa. Anna facilitates the University of Iowa's TILE (Transform, Interact, Learn, Engage) Program which supports faculty who teach in their active learning classrooms.

Active Learning Classrooms - Q&A

Anna Bostwick Flaming (University of Iowa) facilitates the University of Iowa’s TILE (Transform, Interact, Learn, Engage) Program which supports faculty who teach in their active learning classrooms.

Participants in the active learning classroom Q&A are invited to ask questions about Anna’s work with TILE, active learning classrooms, and faculty and student experiences in active learning classroom.

Active Learning Classrooms Forum
September 9, 1:30-2:30pm
Hine Hall 118 (IUPUI)

J.D. Walker and Christina Petersen are leading researchers on active learning spaces and the pedagogical practices that support active learning. Participants were invited to ask questions about Walker and Christina's extensive research on, faculty development efforts for, and experience teaching in active learning classrooms. This event occurred in Hine Hall 118, a Mosaic active learning classroom designed to support student collaboration in a large enrollment classroom.

Mosaic Active Learning Classrooms Tour
April 15, 12:30-2:30pm
University Library, 1225 (IUPUI campus)

Mosaic active learning classrooms enable a variety of instructional approaches that actively engage students during class. Participants toured the most recently designed Mosaic classrooms on the IUPUI campus. They also explored the features of each room and experienced firsthand what it is like to learn in a space that supports active and collaborative approaches to teaching.

Refreshments were served from 12:30-12:45pm at the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Mosaic Faculty Forum for the Global and International Studies Building
April 8, 1-2:30pm
Global and International Studies Building 1118 (Bloomington campus)

During the Mosaic Faculty Forum, instructors were able to let room designers know what they liked about teaching in GISB classrooms, what challenges they experienced in the spaces, and what they wished they could change about the rooms.

Instructors who have taught, are currently teaching, or are about to teach in a GISB classroom were invited to come to the Mosaic Faculty Forum to share experiences, concerns, and ideas and help the Learning Spaces team continue to improve learning environments for both instructors and students in the Global and International Studies Building. 

Mosaic Initiative–IUPUI launch

The Mosaic Initiative launched at IUPUI on September 9 in the Tower Ballroom.

The luncheon featured J.D. Walker and Christina Petersen from the University of Minnesota, who are leading researchers on active learning spaces.

Mosaic Initiative–Bloomington launch

The First Inaugural Mosaic Luncheon was held on January 22 in the Grand Hall of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center.

The luncheon also featured Adam Finkelstein, from McGill University, a leading authority on active learning spaces and the pedagogical practices that support active learning.
